Bye.

Hey, I just learned that literally means "Go with God." Seems obvious now. Nice. I'm taking a blogging break over the long weekend. Later, dudes.

  4. i think it's that "God be with you" was reduced to "goodbye"

same thing with adios (to god)

  5. It's more - 'Until Gd.' So, 'hasta la vista' would be 'until we see each other again.' 'A dios' would be more final, almost 'until we see each other in heaven.'

In French it's 'au re-voir,' 'until we see each other again;' 'a-dieu,' 'until Gd.'

    Have a great weekend!
    A-ri-veder-ci, non addio!

  7. That reminds me of my lightbulb about con queso, the dip that means "with cheese". So obvious in hindsight...

  8. Hey E's,
You should edit Wikipedia, the source of my newfound (mis?)knowledge. I looked up Adiós to confirm that it had an accent over the o!

  9. My patients often say to me (I'm a visiting nurse): vaya con dios, as in "go with God."
