Just for fun I've made you a template for a personal calling card. Apparently social calling cards are making a comeback, so you might want to print up a few to hand out at parties, moms' play groups, to new neighbors, or tuck them into your Christmas cards if you've updated your contact info.
In case you don't like orange because there's something wrong with you, there are two other colors to choose from.
Download orange cards, blue cards, or burgundy cards.
Each design is a PDF file with editable fields for typing. After saving the file to your computer, open the PDF in Adobe Reader (free right here if you don't already have it), type in your information, and print at 100% on a sheet of white cardstock. Trim with an X-acto knife or scissors, using the crop marks as guides. The font used in the name field is Euphorigenic, a free download at MyFonts.com. If you don't feel like going to the trouble of fetching it and installing it on your machine, your computer will substitute a font that might be tolerable to you.
(These cards are for personal use only; please don't try to sell the design, decorate your website with it, etc.) Enjoy!
Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteAnd Anita Cardnow? Hilarious.
Thanks for this little piece of awesome!
You're super welcome.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the freebie. This is great!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I think there might be something wrong with the orange download.
ReplyDeleteI have to tell you that before I started reading your blog I thought that orange was just an OK colour, but I love it more every day now...thank you (I know, you probably thought there was something wrong with me before reading your blog!)
ReplyDeleteDid you know Orange is the color of friendship?...you probably did - lol
ReplyDeleteGreat cards, so happy I stumbled onto you via Twitter!
Love the cards
LOL! Anita Cardnow :)
ReplyDeleteThese are great. I just printed mine out (in orange - it's working fine for me).
Thank you!
Allison, can you be more specific? I tested it after reading your comment and it worked for me. Perhaps you need to wait a bit longer; it's a 380 kb file, so might take a few seconds to download.
ReplyDeleteAdmitted Fabricaholic, I did not know that! But maybe I intuited it. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic! Thanks for another cool printable. I love 'em. (in all colors!)
ReplyDeleteOh so cute! Thank you for making me a blue card. You KNOW there's something wrong with ME!
ReplyDeleteNow if only Anitada Cardnow.
Mum
Thanks so much! We are moving next month, so I put our new address on this. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThese are soo cute! Maybe I'll make some in each color. :) Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Thanks for the personal use [only] freebie! I'm going to keep a stash in my purse :)
ReplyDeletei knew the name on the card had to be something clever, but it took me a minute to figure it out!
ReplyDeletethanks for the template; this will be perfect for handing out! i need to get my contact info out there for my personal yoga instruction, and this will be a wonderful way of doing so.
I love these!!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteI tried the orange card and I typed my name and it's invisible. The phone number & email show up fine though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for making these. I love them!
ReplyDeleteHi, another Jessica here. Long-time lurker. Had to stop in to say a big thank you for this download. I love it. I'm loving orange, too; seems like it is less and less a bold color choice as I get older - or maybe I'm just bolder. Haha. My little girl's (1 yo tomorrow!) nursery is in orange and turquoise. Turned out great and suits her so well.
ReplyDeleteGina, that's interesting. I tested the PDFs on both a Mac and a PC without the font Euphorigenic installed, and both computers substituted a similar font so the name still showed up when saved and printed.
ReplyDeleteYou're saying it won't show up on your screen at all, even if you start typing there?
I'd suggest downloading and installing the free font and seeing if that helps.
By the way, MyFonts.com is a great source of free fonts; just type "free" in the search box. It's also where I buy commercial fonts for projects.
Thanks for these delightful cards!
ReplyDeletethey are all georgeous, but i am with you, i love the orange one best. good idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you for these beautiful cards! I love them. Sadly, the orange cards (and purple, but not blue) have little black squares with plus signs that I can't get rid of and they show up on the printed version, too. Maybe I'm just not smart enough, computer-wise, but I really love the orange ones and don't want to settle for the blue ones because of the silly little plus sign. Any idea what's going on or how to fix it?
ReplyDelete"...in case you don't like orange because there's something wrong with you..." HA!!! omg, you are too funny!
ReplyDelete"In case you don't like orange because there's something wrong with you"
ReplyDeleteBest thing I have read all day I LOVE orange too!
Love it! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove these...and I love orange!
ReplyDeleteLove the orange! Thanks so much!
ReplyDeletejengerbread, I think I figured out what was happening with the black pluses. If you download the PDFs again, I think they'll be okay.
ReplyDeleteJess - Tested - that solved it. Sorry for my previous long-winded comment then!
ReplyDeleteTricia, I totally appreciate your tips! So these new links worked then? Thanks for testing!
ReplyDeleteYep - all three!
ReplyDeleteThose darn writable forms - they are truly fabulous and evil. Seriously.
All better now. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYES. Finicky. What looks great in Acrobat Professional might suddenly become glitchy when Extending Features in Reader. I swear I tested it, too. Peculiar.
ReplyDeleteTricia and Jengerbread, thanks for your comments and hanging out with me on a Friday night. Have a good weekend!
These are gorgeous! Thank you thank you!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI just got some cards from Moo to hand out to moms. I've found they are great for daycare friends.
ReplyDeleteThanks! This is great. You are too clever with your work and comments. I will print it out now.
ReplyDeleteThese cards are amazing!!! Thank you! I love them ALL. :)
ReplyDeleteWe're pretty hermit-y round here, but I am so tempted to print some and hand them out to my husband, just for fun and kicks. Id just add the name "wife" and be good to go! haha, thanks for sharing!!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so kind. Those look fantastic! Thanks for sharing. I'll be sure to show the post to others. I like the idea of social calling cards. I can see how it would be useful nowadays with everyone having so many accounts (twitter, fb, etc)...
ReplyDeleteThanks!
those are so gorgeous! thank you!
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute. I am definitely saving them and having some printed. What a great alternative to giving new friends a business card :)
ReplyDeleteThese are so lovely. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteWow! Aren't you nice? (Yes, you ARE!)
ReplyDeletethank you ;-)
Jess, Yes, exactly what you said, I type my name in and nothing appears. I did download the font first before I started. The only thing that might be different about my computer set up is that I hardly ever update my software. But it's a pretty new computer (1 year).
ReplyDeleteso very nice of you and you are too funny! I feel the same about orange as you ... love it and almost everything I make has a little (mostly a lot!) in it ...
ReplyDeleteGina, I updated the links last night so the files are new. Does it work now?
ReplyDeleteThank you, you always have such awesome printables!
ReplyDelete"..because there's something wrong with you..." LOL LOL You crack me up.
ReplyDeleteGreat design, thanks for the freebie.
Thank you so much for sharing! The cards are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAnita Cardnow? You´re so funny!
simply and tastefully.
ReplyDeleteNo, darn it. :-( I'm working on the software updates now.
ReplyDeleteThe cards are so cute. Good idea I didn't know if anyone still carried around cards I'm glad they are coming back.
ReplyDeleteOh love the name lol.
Ha! Didn't get the name until I checked the comments. It...must be late. Anyway they're gorgeous, thanks. :)
ReplyDeleteHi. I printed mine and they came out so small I can't read them!? I also got the black lines but I thought those were cutting marks? I will download the new link and see what happens! thanks!
ReplyDeleteok. no changes. shall i take a pic and send it to you on how it is printing out? how big are the cards supposed to be? its printing on the bottom half of the paper horizontally???? help!!
ReplyDeleteExcellent design and the font is a great choice. Boy, you are GOOD. Thank you! I'm going to be spreading orange (and friendship) like mad!!
ReplyDeleteAlia, are you opening the file and printing from Adobe Reader? It's a free download right here. You can also print from Acrobat Professional if you have it.
ReplyDelete-Make sure your Page Setup settings are for portrait (vertical) printing, not landscape.
-Check to see that the scale is set at 100%, with no shrink or reduce option turned on.
The cards are standard business card size, 3.5" x 2" and should print on a vertical 8.5" x 11" page. There are thin black crop marks that indicate where to trim out the cards. Hope that helps!
Hi. You have an awesome blog!
ReplyDeleteHave included you as Blog of the Week at my blog. Link is http://peacefrompieces.blogspot.com/
Cheers - Dora
This is so cool!! Thank you!

ReplyDeleteit's so lovely...
Thank you, the cards are lovely!
ReplyDeleteIn love with these little guys! Too bad I just got some printed, these are definitley a must when the other ones run out! I adore how your pictures are always perfectly staged as well. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteJess,
ReplyDeleteThanks! That's it~ just thanks!
You're wonderful.
These are great!! Thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much :)
ReplyDeleteJess, sorry it took me a couple of days to get to this. I did what you suggested and it was the printer set up and it works now! Yay! You rock! Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteAlia, great! Glad to hear it.
ReplyDeleteHi Jess,
ReplyDeleteFor me, while the pink and blue ones load almost instantly, the orange one stays blank. Evidently, it's just me with this problem. I know you stated that the links are new, and I have tried hitting the refresh button to no avail. Oh well.
Problem solved.
ReplyDeleteThese are so lovely! Thank you for sharing! I love the orange and blue versions best! But they are all great! Might make a great gift for my daughter's stocking! :) - Karen
ReplyDeleteAllison, I'm having the same problem. How'd you fix it?
ReplyDeletethank you so much for this. They are lovely
ReplyDeleteThese are so pretty! Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for these! I printed one in each colour :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. I'm going to a blogger get together next weekend and they suggested bringing business cards, so these are just the ticket.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing :)
Hi!
ReplyDeleteWanted you to know I posted a link to this download today on my blog, PaperFriendly.

How in the world do you make those editable fields in a pdf? I have been trying to figure that out for some address labels I designed and wanted to just open them in Acrobat to type the addresses in, I can't find out by google search either. Great cards btw! Love the orange!
ReplyDelete-Erin
Erin, this should help. Then to make sure people can open your file in Reader and save the text they input, you'll need to change a setting. Go to the Advanced menu and choose "Extend Features In Adobe Reader." Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you sooo much! I will try it!
ReplyDelete-Erin
Cool cards. But how do I fill out the form? I've opened the document in Adobe Reader, but can't work out how to fill it in with my details. Do I need to change my settings? (I'm on a Mac)
ReplyDeleteHi Christine,
ReplyDeleteIn Reader, highlight the existing text with your cursor and start typing over it.
Hi Jessica,
ReplyDeleteLongtime lurker, first-time commenter...I love your blog and download almost everything you suggest. Love it! I printed the orange and burgundy cards successfully, but I am still getting the black plus signs on the blue file. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks again for such a great blog!
Thank you, these are wonderful!
ReplyDeleteLovely! But I must be doing something wrong here as I can fill in the name but as soon as I try to move onto the e-mail line the name that I just filled in turns into HTML-code? Trying to fix it but as am no computer wizard all help would be much appreciated. :)
ReplyDeleteThese are perfect! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJessica...the calling cards are adorable. I was hoping to print them onto sheets of blank business cards. My business cards are in sheets of ten and the calling cards print out a quantity of eight. That would be okay with me, however, the cards do not line up with the perforated business card blanks on the sheet. Do you know an easy fix for this or some way I can get the calling cards to print out correctly? I'm not a big computer person but do know how to do some things. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletePam
hellopf@yahoo.com
Hi Pam,
ReplyDeleteI would have to redo the files according to where the perforations are on your cardstock, and I'm afraid I don't have extra time to make you a customized file. You might have to use a ruler and an Xacto knife to cut them out; sorry!
Wow what a fabulous website. Thanks so much for this piece of loveliness.
ReplyDeleteHey - love the cards - but my photoshop is asking for a permissions password when I try to open the file? Please help! Thanks, Lyndal.
ReplyDeleteHi Lyndal,
ReplyDeleteRight; that's so people don't take the artwork and use it for themselves in other projects. To be able to edit the text, open the file in Adobe Reader (it's free and you probably have it) or Adobe Acrobat instead.
Love, Love, Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your beautiful cards.
Love it! I'm going to get it to print some for my sister! I've been wanting to make some for myself...so inspired to get it done.
ReplyDeleteThese are great! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThese are so awesome & just what i was looking for for my kids as "playdate cards".
ReplyDeleteI found them thru tip junkie!
BUTTT... there is a password protect on them.
How do we obtain the password for them?
Thanks
sam
oh, never mind!
ReplyDeletei see how it works now!!
can't wait to print some!
=)
sam
Hey Sam, you won't need the password to open the cards in Adobe Reader (free software your computer likely has) or Adobe Acrobat. You'll need to open the files in one of those to be able to edit the text.
ReplyDeleteThe password is there to keep people from opening the file in Illustrator, Photoshop, or something else and lifting out the graphics to use for diabolical commercial purposes.
Love these. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteDid you know that Frank Sinatra said "Orange is the friendliest color"
ReplyDeleteThanks for these. Loooove them!
xo Debbie
Gorgeous ! Thanks for sharing these! Elizabeth
ReplyDeleteAmy at Living Locurto sent me! Thank you for the beautiful Calling Cards freebie!

ReplyDeleteAmazing and awesome!

Thanks for these -- you just saved me a heck of a lot of work! Love the design (the orange, especially!)
ReplyDeleteOrange?!?! Please and Thankyou! That's a bunch of awesomesauce right there.... and I desperately needed new mommycards, too!!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.donteatthepaste.com/2011/09/batty-calling-cards.html I linked to your site. I love your calling cards, and used a similar layout for some Halloween cards. Thank you so much for all the wonderful design ideas and projects you post!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for the adorable calling cards! I love your style!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing this template. It's beautiful :)

ReplyDeleteLovely, simply lovely! Thanks oceans ~
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for making these! I love the design and colors!
ReplyDeleteIs there a way I can turn the Pdf over so I can write one the back of the cards?
Thanks again!
~ A grateful friend =)
Hi! That would require setting up a new PDF page with fields for typing, if I understand what you're asking.
ReplyDelete
