Orange and purple

Didn't I just get done saying I don't like orange and purple together very much? Yeah, then I go and buy this planner. $2.99, CVS Pharmacy. I always keep a "month at a glance" version around, but usually this cheap kind has some dumb photos of puppies or palm trees on them. I'll take orange and purple, thank you.

I left a comment when you did your orange/purple poll that I loved the two colors together. I think that they are a perfect compliment. - they look great on your calendar...I hope you enjoy it for 365 days!

Hmm, i've always loved yellow and purple together but never really thought about orange and purple. But, like you, I really do like this one! Great find!

This is awesome--the design looks like something you could have created, although you probably would have done it in a different color combination than orange and purple. Orange and turquoise, maybe?

Wish we had a CVS pharmacy here....

It's better than orange and pretty much any other color (besides white). I love the orange, but does it have to be so alone all the time? It's so antisocial.

Gotta love a bargain. It always surprises me when places like CVS or even the $1 basket at Michael's can turn up some pretty cool stuff.

Hi jessica. Saw something at decor8 (post: Robin's egg pink). Holly has featured a designer called Angela Falcao who designs pillows and I spotted a pillow made with your Red/Orange Calliope!! I immediately recognised it and well, dropping you a line (or more like a note).

I have loved orange and purple together ever since I had a wool coat in those colors when I was in high school...and that was quite some time ago!

Tertiary colors. Get out that Munsell's color theory book. If you get the hue, value and chroma right you can make just about any colors look good together.

Cute! I'm normally not a fan of purple & orange together too, but that is...tastful.

Suzanne, it's a pencil disguised as a pencil! It uses mechanical pencil lead. Pretty fun.

craftyclaire, that's awesome! Thanks for telling me! I have no idea where these things end up.

I always hated the idea of orange and purple together...until I was at my friends house, and he had bright orange and deep purple flowers in the same vase, and they looked amazing together. Ever since then, I've been trying to figure out ways to pair those two colors...

I don't want to be the only neg in the bunch, but the introduction of motifs usually used in the design /handcrafted world by cheap, mass produced goods made in China and sold at places like CVS is usually a really bad sign. Especially to some of you as designers. What you are thinking is - "cool, I can actually find something I like at a place that sells ordinary and typically junky stuff". BUT, what you should be thinking is "uh-oh, the mass producers of the cheap goods are taking cues from our handcrafted design/modern styles and trying to find cheaper ways to replicate and sell them than I can." That is bad for your businesses, ladies and it makes your design go from great to ordinary overnight. This naturally occurs in the retail world but if you are aware of it you can slow it down. It probably means there is some designer here or in China who hates her job because she is forced to design datebooks with cheesy puppy and landscape images, she somehow manged to convince her boss that a simple botanical outline pattern that she sees similarly on several online blogs is the latest trend to try and he agrees to distribute this design for a few months, see how it sells. This is how style gets to the masses and becomes desensitized, overused, and then you my lovely designers, must find new and enticing designs to once again wow the smaller factions of shoppers.

So, in a way, the cheap, mass-produced deal is the worst deal of all...hence how our society got into this big mess (with China) in the first place...and the only thing you can do is to let your dollars speak for you by where you spend your money. Paying less is usually never better, pay attention to the craft.

I'm just saying I will be very sad when the cute botanical trend dies out from overexposure no matter when or why and as designers and fans you should all be more aware of how the world really works.

However, I will add it is how Target has stayed fresh over the years, but we all love Target? They pay people to scour the internet and stay on top of trends and pass the ideas along to their creatives and sell it back to us very cheaply...oh well. I just want you to all be sucessful and I meant the best with my comment. I'm just mad at China I guess, LOL.

Ohhh, I love that! I've never been an orange/purple person either. But that is so cute!
