Back.

Over the weekend we went to Tennessee for a little vacation. A few days before we left, I googled smoky mountain cabins, and found this place. We ended up staying in a private cabin called Woods and Waters, which was unbelievable. You never know what you're getting into when you reserve something online, but when we saw it, we were thrilled. Charming, spacious, king bed, hot tub, fireplace, two porches, candles, BBQ grill, kitchen, waffle iron, wine glasses, and total privacy. And it smelled like cedar and pine trees, with a faint hint of woodsmoke thrown in. Dreamy.

We slept late every day, cooked bacon and eggs, drank coffee on the porch, and went over to the national park (10 minutes away, and no entrance fee!) to hike for the rest of each day. Have a look:

I highly recommend it.

Yeah thats where I live! I cant convince my husband that sleeping in all day, relaxing, and hiking are fun things to do :(

I bet he'd rather go to all the little craft shops and browse among the candles shaped like bears, painted wooden squirrels, quilted Kleenex box covers, ceramic apples, and doilies? :) I know that's all Alex wanted to do while we were there.

looks like a bit of a magical place to me! Is that really a sweet william growing wild there?

fabulous! My husband and I hiked the smokey mountains years ago and had an unbelievable time filled with good stories, but that cabin looks much more inviting than our little tent did! ;)
It reminds me of an internet reservation I just made for an overnight house rental on the big island of Hawaii. It mentioned hot tub and afternoon tea... I hope we have as good of an outcome as you did!

Oh my gosh! I hope you liked my state! Did you hike the Chimneys? That hike is awesome but totally kicked my butt. The Smokies are really low key and gorgeous. Thanks for visiting!

Oooh, my hubby and I did a similar vacation in Virginia last summer. At Shenandoah Nat'l Park. I'm not what one would call "outdoorsy", but I loved it. I would have loved it even more if our quarters looked anything like yours, instead of the bug and mouse-infested room that we got!

Oh we stayed in Townsend a few years back in a similarly enchanting cabin. I miss it!! We loved the mountains and we LOVED Cade's Cove. TN is a gorgeous place! Lucky girl!

This is very timely, as husband and I are trying to find a place to go for a few days while son visits grandma! Thank you!

My camera is a Canon Powershot S2 IS. I'm definitely no expert, but I have fun with it.

It's great to hear from you TN and NC natives. Thanks for saying hi! I like your neck of the woods.

This is my backyard! Don't you just love that? I walk out my door and take the kids for walks in a wonderland. The down side is that jobs are scarce and pay is lousy. Glad you enjoyed it!

Some friends and I rented the cabin around Christmas two years ago and it was so cozy and relaxing. You should move to the south if you love nature : ) .... I am becoming a hiking fan.

You wouldn't happen to know the name of the pink flowers in the pictures?

I bought this dress for a wedding that has a trim with fabric flowers dyed just like those! I loved it because of the flowers and I didn't realize they were based on a real flower!

The pictures are gorgeous, I wish I was there right now...

A reader who commented above identified the flower as a sweet william. Let's go with that. (?) I have no idea; it was just growing there on the bank of the river.
